Birthday Card Contest

Category: General News, Partner Agencies

Kids Up Front is thrilled to be celebrating 10 years of service to the greater Edmonton community this year. Throughout that time, we’ve been able to provide over 250,000 ticket opportunities and experiences for all of our wonderful partner agencies and the children and youth that you all serve.

As part of our ongoing 10th birthday celebrations this year, we are having a birthday card contest through the end of this year, and we want you to be a part of it! From now until the end of November, we are inviting your agency kids to create a birthday card for Kids Up Front and send it in. At the end of each month, we will choose the winning card for said month: the card creator will then get 2 tickets to an event of their choosing (provided we are able to secure tickets to the event) the following month. So February’s card contest winner will receive 2 tickets to any event that we have tickets to in the month of March. Once we have 10 monthly winners (at the end of November), those 10 become finalists for our grand prize draw of a very special ticket experience in December. Children and agencies are able to enter as many times as they want – each birthday card sent in is another chance to win; however, if a child wins the monthly prize, they will not be eligible for another monthly prize as a finalist.

This contest is open to all kids and youth served by your agencies, so don’t delay – send in those cards today! Deadline for the February contest is February 28. The kids can be as creative as they want, electronic submissions (cards, videos, etc) are also eligible to win.

If you have any questions or would like further information about our Birthday Card Contest, please contact Christine McCourt.

Cards can be mailed to our office:

Go Oil Kings Go!!

Category: General News, Partner Agencies

So excited that our very own Oil Kings won their division last weekend and are advancing to the 2012 Memorial Cup – Go Oil Kings Go! The Oil Kings have been so supportive of Kids Up Front this year, so we’re pleased to share some well-wishes for the guys:

To the players of the Oil Kings:

On behalf of children and families of the Oliver Centre Early Learning Programs we would like to take this opportunity to wish the team good luck on their road to victory for the Memorial Cup. The children and families have enjoyed the games they were able to see over the past season. We have been very fortunate to receive tickets through Kids Up Front and have enjoyed each and every game we were able to attend.

So to all the Oil Kings players, the children of Oliver Centre have faith in you and will be “Cheering Loudly” for you all the way! GOOD LUCK!!

Sincerely,

Sue MacLean

Executive Director, Oliver Centre Early Learning Programs For Children & Families Society

Thank You to Edmonton Energy

Category: Partner Agencies, Thanks

A lovely email came through one of our staff partners at Catholic Social Services today:

This is a comment from one of our Youth mentor volunteers who took 5 newcomer youth to the Edmonton Energy basketball game on May 5, 2012:

“Volunteering with Catholic Social Services, is both rewarding and fun. On a recent outing to watch the Edmonton Energy basketball game, our youth were given free t-shirts, post-game autographs and one teen even participated in the half time challenge. They had a great time cheering, learning Canadian customs, spending time with their peers and mentors and just laughing together. There are many opportunities to get involved in the community and this was just one of many enjoyable activities that are provided by Catholic Social Services.”

Also, in the Edmonton Journal the next day there was a picture from the game and our group (Rachel and three of the girls) were in the background of the picture :)

Thanks, Kara, for taking the time to share your appreciation… Edmonton Energy loved hearing that you had a great time.
