Keystone Kids

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

Keystone Kids is a collaborative effort between Edmonton’s Foundation Concerts and Calgary’s Keystone Entertainment Group. This new partnership aims to bring children’s programming to Western Canada. The best news is they’ve chosen Kids Up Front as its national charity partner!

Keystone Kids will be sending kids to the shows, and we also encourage people to purchase tickets for Kids Up Front ‘cause a portion of the tour’s proceeds will be donated back to Kids Up Front in each city. To learn more click on Keystone Kids.

Inspiring athletics and higher education

Friday, January 30th, 2009

Kudos to the University of Alberta Athletics Department for inspiring hockey dreams and post secondary education! 30 ‘bigs and littles’ (aka Big Brother Big SIsters of Edmonton) cheered on the Golden Bears in January.

89 see the Oilers in January

Friday, January 30th, 2009

It didn’t matter to 89 fans that it was freezing cold or if the ‘Oil’ won or lost! These kids were simply thrilled to be part of the action of a live NHL game. Northlands generously provided a set of season tickets so Kids up Front kids can watch the Oilers each and every time they step out on the ice at Rexall Place. 100 kids also received a Kids Kombo courtesy of Northlands this season. Thanks also to ATB Financial, Jim Mazurenko, Brent Buchanan and Ron Ross for putting kids in their empty seats.

Natasha wrote, “this was my first time at a game and it was so awesome.” Check out Natasha’s letter.

460 cheer the Oil Kings!

Friday, January 30th, 2009

Wow, can you imagine all of those cheers! We can’t thank the Oil Kings organization, their awesome season ticket holders and the Edmonton Oilers Charitable Foundation for giving hundreds of kids the chance to see Edmonton’s young guns play hockey during the month of January alone!

During the season, more than 1,000 have experienced the Oil King’s talents live at Rexall Place. Tickets that couldn’t be used by our supporters in January were re-gifted to kids involved with Pathways, YMCA, Crossroads, NET, Boyle St. Coop, Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society,  Catholic Social Services, YESS, Cerebral Palsy Association, Mc Man Youth Services, KARA, The Way In, Big Brothers Big Sisters (Edmonton), Excel Society, The Family Centre, Parkdale Afterschool Program, Fulton Afterschool Program, Ronald McDonald House, Boys and Girls Clubs (Strathcona County) and TERRA.

Jordan wrote, “I’m a big hockey fan…so this means a lot to be able to go and watch the game against the Hitmen. It’s a feeling like when the Oilers and Flames get together for a Battle of Alberta.” Check out Jordan’s letter and other thanks from the kids in our scrapbook.
